Travel will always be a form of magic. Exploring this beautiful world, seeing different cultures and immersing yourself in cities and countries you’ve never been before. The world is too big, and we are too small, not to spend our time exploring it.
Something that I love about travelling is that feeling of there always being more to see – there’s always somewhere else to explore, always something else to do – it’s invigorating, and exciting, with adventure always round the corner and incredible days of elation spent chasing it.
I’d love to know your favourite place that you’ve ever travelled – make sure to comment it down below! Until then, however, here are some awesome travel quotes that fill my heart with wanderlust. Enjoy!
“The best part of airports lie in what they symbolise. Airports are places of bookends: new beginnings and long awaited endings, arrivals and departures, hellos and goodbyes. We start in one city to end in another hundreds or thousand miles away. You enter from a desert and exit into a blizzard. In from winter, out into summer. In from familiarity, out into something completely foreign. Or vice versa. An airport is a place of transit, and not just geographically. I wish there was some sort of time-lapse to show how people change between departures and arrivals. When I arrive back home from being away, I’m never the same person as when I left.”
“Of all the books in the world, the best stories are found between the pages of a passport.”
“All that is gold does not glitter. Not all who wander are lost.”
“I beg young people to travel. If you don’t have a passport, get one. Take a summer, get a backpack, go to Delhi, go to Saigon, go to Bangkok, go to Kenya. Have your mind blown, eat interesting food, dig some interesting people, have an adventure, be careful. Come back and you’re going to see your Country differently. You’re going to see your President differently, no matter who it is. Music, culture, food, water. Your showers will become shorter. You’re going to get an idea of what globalisation looks like. It’s not what Tom Friedman writes about, I’m sorry. You’re going to see that global climate change is very real. And that for some people, their day consists of walking twelve miles for four buckets of water. And so there are lessons that you can’t get out of a book that are waiting for you on the other end of that flight. A lot of people, Americans and Europeans – come back and go, “Oooooh”. And the lightbulb goes on.”
“Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.”
“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime”
“I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move.”
Robert Louis Stevenson
“I read; I travel; I become”
“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.”
“To travel is to live.”
Hans Christian Anderson
“I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.”
Mary Anne Radmacher
